Dermaplaning is a gentle buffing of the skin's surface with a rounded surgical blade to remove the dead layer of skin cells. A main benefit is that the vellus hair is also removed enabling more dead skin cells that would otherwise be trapped by the hair to buffed away. The result is incredibly smooth, soft, youthful looking skin.
After the skin cells have been lifted away a mild enzyme or peel solution is applied to enhance the condition of your skin. The peel solution will diminish hyperpigmentation, minimize lines, increase hydration, brighten and even the skin tone, as well as smooth and soften the texture of your skin. A calming or hydrating mask is applied, followed by moisturizer and sunscreen.
Vellus hair is the soft peach fuzz as opposed to terminal hair that is thicker and typically darker. Vellus hair does not have the capability of growth like the terminal hair. When vellus hair is removed it will return to its original state and does not become terminal hair.
Please note that acneic skin is not suitable to this procedure.
There is typically no downtime following Dermaplaning. Occasionally someone may experience redness and sensitivity that will diminish within 24 hours.
